How to Come to Nanjing

It is convenient to come to Nanjing.

There are direct airlines between Nanjing and Bangkok, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Macao, Osaka, Seoul, Singapore, etc.
It is also convenient to transfer at other cities of mainland China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, etc. There are direct airlines between Nanjing with almost all the main cities of mainland China.

From Airport in Shanghai to Nanjing

If you arrive at Shanghai Pudong Airport, then you have the following choices:

1) By bus: There is a "long distance bus stop" outside the Pudong airport, just in 5 minutes' walking distance (you can ask the staff at the airport for the "long distance bus stop" or simply "bus to Nanjing" to know the concrete stop site). The bus from Pudong airport to Nanjing starts at everay everyday 10:20, 12:50, 14:50, 16:50, 19:20 (since the timetable may change, please query Shanghai Pudong International Airport before your trip). The ticket is about 120RMB. It will take you 4 hours from the Pudong airport to Nanjing, if there is no traffic jam. After leaving from Pudong airport for about 1.5 hours, there will be about 15 minutes' rest at a "rest stop", at where you can take some fast food.

2) By train: You can take a shuttle bus at the Pudong airport to the Shanghai train station. The trip is about 40 minutes, and the ticket is about 18RMB. Then you can buy a train ticket to Nanjing. There are many trains from Shanghai to Nanjing, about one per 30 minutes if you don't care comfortableness. The fastest train will take about 2 hours 5 minutes from Shanghai to Nanjing, the slowest will take about 7 hours, and most trains will take about 2 to 3.5 hours. The tickets are about 45-112RMB, depending on the type of the train and the rank of the seat. When you buy the ticket, we suggest you to ask the staff to give you the ticket which will make you arrive at Nanjing as early as possible. Moreover, some trains have different rank of seats. We suggest you to take the highest rank seats (the most expensive one is no more than 112RMB) for a more comfortable trip. Better trains are named as "Dxxx" or "Txxx" ("xxx" is a number"), and better seats are named as "soft seat" (some trains even have "1st class soft seat" and "2nd class soft seat").

If you arrive at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport:

1) By bus: There is also a "long distance bus stop" outside the Hongqiao airport. You can take a bus to Nanjing from there. The buses is about 20 minutes' later than these starting from the Pudong airport. 2) By train: You can take a shuttle bus at the Pudong airport to the Shanghai train station. Then you can take the same action as specified above.

From Nanjing Aiport and Railway Station to your hotel

It is convinient to get to your hotel (near Nanjing University).

1) If you arrive at Nanjing Lukou Airport:

You can take the airport bus to Zhonghuamen Station. It takes about half an hour and 25 RMB. Then you can take the Metro and get off at Zhujianglu Station, which takes within 10 minutes and costs 2 RMB. If you stay at the New Era Hotel, go straight north and you shall see the hotel on the left of the road. If you stay at Xiyuan Hotel, we suggest you take a taxi after Metro and it takes within 10 minutes and costs within 10 RMB.

You can also take a taxi from the airport to your hotel. It takes about 1 hour and costs within 150 RMB.

2) If you arrive at Nanjing Railway Station:

You can take Metro out of Nanjing Railway Station and get off at Zhujianglu Station, which takes within 10 minutes and costs 2 RMB. If you stay at the New Era Hotel, go straight north and you shall see the hotel on the left of the road. If you stay at Xiyuan Hotel, we suggest you take a taxi after Metro and it takes within 10 minutes and costs within 10 RMB.

You can also take a taxi from the Railway station to your hotel. It takes about 20 minutes and costs about 15 RMB.
