JACK - Any of a range of hardware devices on which the permanent wiring of telecommunications circuits or apparatus is terminated to provide a physical access point by the insertion of a plug.

JITTER - Short term instability of the amplitude and/or phase of a signal. The latter condition is commonly called PHASE JITTER.

JUMP SCROLLING - Characteristic of a terminal with vertical motions of a whole line of characters at a time in discrete steps of one line, much as a teleprinter terminal might do. Contrast with " smooth scrolling " as done by graphics terminals.
